To support this initiative, BBC Worldwide is hosting a Head of Business Development, Digital Partnerships.
Responsibility
Reporting to the Director of Digital Partnerships and Innovation, the Digital Partnerships Manager will play a key role in a new team with responsibility for:
- Researching and analyzing the market to identify emerging partnership opportunities
- Pitching partnership opportunities to targeted digital businesses, which reflects the strategic value BBC Worldwide can bring to the partner, and BBC Worldwide's own goals
- Structuring, negotiating and executing partnership deals taking the lead on some deals and supporting the Director of Digital Partnerships on other deals
- Managing stakeholders to ensure each partnership is supported by a clear set of objectives that reflect the interests of all relevant BBC Worldwide stakeholders and any trade-offs are flushed out.
- Account Managing specified partnership, being the single point of contact and ensuring a strong relationship is established and there is a robust performance management framework to support each partnership's objectives and KPI's
- Reporting on progress both in terms of deal pipeline, and performance of completed deals.
- In this role, we are looking for a creative deal maker with significant Business Development experience in both the media and digital space, who has a real understanding of content distribution, content funding, and marketing partnerships.
- Track record of meeting stretching targets
- A network of existing relationships with leading digital businesses, and an understanding of their strategic interests.
- Degree education with MBA / legal qualification would be a bonus but is not required
- A self-starter with an entrepreneurial bent with resilience, grit and closing skills, who is willing to take ownership to see opportunities through from pitch to deal completion, and systematically overcome all relevant obstacles to get partnerships in place
- Strong analytical skills and intellectual rigor applied to decision making, and the ability to think strategically about complex issues, and to solve problems to unlock opportunities for partner organizations.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills - with the ability to develop and present pitch documents.
- Financially literate, with excel modelling experience and strong attention to detail
- The ability to work well under pressure, to project manage competing priorities and the ability to get things done at pace and with high quality.
- A passion for emerging content development, funding and monetization opportunities in the digital media space.
- An affinity for BBC Worldwide's IP and global media franchises, and their future growth potential.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable with ambiguity.
