Greg Schiano will not be the next head football coach in Tennessee after all.

The primary reason for Volunteers fans' disapproval of Schiano stems from his alleged connection to Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State. Schiano, who served as assistant under Joe Paterno at Penn State from 1990-1995, denied allegations of having any knowledge of child abuse by Sandwich's 2015 by Mike McQueary's ex-Penn State assistant.

Schiano has served as the defensive coordinator at Ohio State under Urban Meyer over the past two seasons.

ESPN first reported news of Tennessee's decision not to hire Schiano.

In addition to campus protests and outrage by fans on Twitter, multiple state representatives blasted the university for tryinging to hire Schiano.

"The head football coach at the University of Tennessee is the highest-paid state employee," Tennessee State Rep. Said Jeremy Faison.

"They're the face of our state, we do not need a man who has that type of potential reproach in their life as the highest-paid state employee. It's egregious to the people and it's wrong to the taxpayers." Faison was one of at least three state representatives who went on Twitter or issued statements to criticize the possibility of Tennessee hiring Schiano.

Candidate Republican Republicans Mae Beavers, Diane Black, Beth Harwell and Bill Lee also relayed their objections to a Schiano hired.

State Rep. Eddie Smith tweeted that "a Greg Schiano hire would be anathema to all that our University and our community stand for." Court documents released in the summer of 2015 included a deposition from former Penn State coach Mike McQueary, who indicated former Penn State assistant Tom Bradley said Schiano went to him in the early 1990's "White as a ghost and said he just saw Jerry doing something to a boy in the shower. " Schiano served as the head coach at Rutgers from 2001-2011, compiling at 68-67 record.

Former Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik, who hired Schiano to be Tampa Bay's head coach in 2012, defends Schiano on Twitter, describing him as a good man and an "Excellent" coach.

Tennessee is now in a tough spot with its head coaching search, as her other top candidate Mississippi State's Dan Mullen was hired by Florida to be the Gators' next head coach Sunday afternoon.
