Media Relations involves working with media for the purpose of informing the public of an organization's mission, policies and practices in a positive, consistent and credible way. Typically, this means coordinating directly with the people responsible for producing thenews and features in the mass media. ' The goal of media relations is to maximize positive coverage in the mass media without paying for it directly through advertising.

Description Job:

• The Media Relations & Communication Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing media relations program, including strategy, planning and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a deep-rooted understanding of the Nigeria decision making process, sound project and time management skills and be capable of engaging with different stakeholder groups.
• The position will require strong organizational skills, political insight and the ability to work with experts to ensure messaging can be understood by journalists and their readers within the Nigeria policy sphere and culture.
• The Media Relations & Communication Manager will coordinate and work closely with colleagues in various Business Groups and Business Units and will support them as needed.

Main responsibility:

• Lead all aspects of the Huawei Nigeria media relations program, including strategy, planning and implementation.
• Ensure that activities work align with overall communication efforts.
• Work with experts to ensure messaging can be understood by journalists and their readers within the Nigeria policy sphere.
• Conceive, create and deliver at a high level of quality on all assigned communication outputs, including press releases, op-eds, fact sheets and briefing notes.
• Effectively orchestrate face-to-face press activity such interviews and press conferences and
• briefings
• Write, edit and publish content for news section on company website

Requirements:

• 5 years' experience in well-known international companies as a public relations or media affairs manager or consultant, responsible for operations and media affairs of the company with the aim of providing high-level strategies and recommendations;
• University degree (communications, journalism) with a deep interest in the ICT industry;
• Passionate about media relations with a strong news instinct,
• A track record of transforming technical topics into easy-to-read stories;
• Excellent communication skills (both spoken and written);
• Working knowledge of web content management systems and related Internet tools would be an asset;
• Interest in social media;
• Able to thrive in organizational complexity;
• A team-player who can work independently
