Rowan university awarded $1M to fund scholarships

Rowan University awarded $1M to fund scholarships by nonprofit also known as Give Back, a nonprofit organization that supports students in New Jersey, to help fund scholarships for students.

On Friday, Give Back announced a $ 1 million gift to Rowan University and a $ 500,000 gift to Rowan College at Gloucester County to fund scholarships for economically disadvantaged students to attend the schools.

In 2015, Give Back awarded Rowan University $ 1 million which funded full rides for 50 students.

The Give Back program involves much more than just paying a tuition for students.

In the past, the organization has worked with select school districts, inviting freshmen to apply for entrance into the program, which, if successfully completed, will include a four-year scholarship to college.

Give Back is a nonprofit organization founded by philanthropist, entrepreneur and author Robert O. Carr that supports college-bound students from low-income families by providing scholarships and mentoring programs, helping them graduate with little or no debt in four years.

Since 2003, the organization has prepaid more than $ 35 million in scholarships to help more than 1,500 students in seven states.
