Bbc world service job: business analyst to join bbc research & development / details and application guide


We are looking for a Business Analyst to join BBC Research & Development at our North Lab at MediaCityUK. BBC R & D looks 1 to 5 years ahead, and is highly respected for its work at the cutting edge of the media industry. The Trial Platform team is a new team that exists to let people try out the future broadcasting technologies developed by R & D outside of our lab, focusing on producing live content using completely software and IP-based technology, as opposed to traditional broadcasting equipment. The Trial Platform team will build the tools and environment necessary to enable use of IP Studio to occur outside of the lab with real production teams, using principles arising from DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering cultures to showcase the very latest of broadcast technology.

Responsibility

You'll be working closely with the tech lead for the platform team, the research lead for IP Studio and our producers who help develop the trials. This role will work with the wider platform team and its stakeholders to help identify the requirements to successfully build a reusable platform that can deliver these trials. You will define and develop requirements and set KPIs and measurement methods to ensure delivery and performance, and gather feedback from trials for further improvement. You will also work with the tech lead to assess impact and longer term strategy.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working in an agile or lean software team;
  • Be able to use appropriate tools and techniques to identify requirements for the platform team;
  • Have effective communication skills to work closely with the technical team, wider stakeholders and production teams who are running trials.
  • Experience working in a team practicing devops or site reliability engineering, or within the media media, is advantageous.
